Paint Trim (Architrave) for a Modern Update

Materials Needed: 

• FrogTape Painter’s Tape
• 2.5-in. Angled Brush
• 4-in. Foam Roller
• Primer
• Gloss Paint
• Sponge
• 80-, 100- and 120-Grit Sandpaper
• Microfiber Cloth

Step 1
Patch any cracks or holes in the trim, then sand. Clean the trim with a damp sponge to remove dust. If needed, run a bead of caulk in the gap between the trim and wall to seal.

Step 2
Apply FrogTape Painter’s Tape between the trim and the wall, and between any carpeting and the trim.

Step 3
Prime – Apply 1-2 coats of primer. Dry for at least 24 hours, then lightly sand. Remove dust with a microfiber cloth.

Step 4
Paint – Slowly paint a few feet at a time. Move on to the next few feet and repeat, overlapping the previous section to ensure blending.

Step 5
Remove the painter’s tape while the paint is still wet.
